The Stena Line Belfast Giants are pleased to announce the re-signing of 36-year-old netminder Andrew Dickson for the 2024/25 season.
An unequivocal fan favourite, Dickson is among the longest tenured Giants in club history, with five Elite League championships, four Challenge Cups, and an Elite League Playoffs title to his name. Initially making his debut for the Giants during the 2009/10 campaign, the 2024/25 season will mark the Ballymoney native’s 14th season in teal.
Adam Keefe, Head Coach of the Belfast Giants, said: “Without question, Dicko is a key part of our roster. His work behind the scenes is second to none, and he always goes above and beyond to make sure that the team is in the best possible shape heading into games. Throughout his career with the Giants, Dicko has played a fundamental role in the club’s success, and it will be great to welcome him back for another season.”
Dickson began his career in the Irish Ice Hockey League with the Belfast City Bruins and Castlereagh Spartans between 2007 and 2010, before joining Gillingham-based Invicta Dynamos, posting a .912 save percentage across 19 games played in the 2010/11 season. Ahead of the 2011/12 season, Dickson took the step into professional ice hockey, joining the Belfast Giants on a permanent basis.
Commenting on his return to the Belfast Giants, Andrew Dickson said: “Having been with the Giants for well over a decade now, I’ve been fortunate to have made lifelong memories with so many fantastic teammates, who I’m proud to call friends. I’ve had the opportunity to be a part of some truly historic moments with the club, and I can’t wait to get started on a new season, helping us to regain all three trophies next season.”
