The team from Amazon’s fulfilment centre in Dublin has made a £1,200 donation to Northern Ireland Hospice.
Northern Ireland Hospice offers specialist palliative care for adults and children who are facing life-limiting conditions. Its team of healthcare professionals work to ensure that every patient receives safe, effective and high-quality care.
The donation from Amazon in Dublin will be used by NI Hospice in its mission to provide compassionate care and support to local people and their families.
Speaking on the donation, Darragh Kelly, General Manager at Amazon in Dublin, said: “The healthcare professionals at Northern Ireland Hospice treat every patient with care and compassion, optimising their quality of life and providing relief during difficult times. Their dedication to their role is truly admirable and we’re pleased to recognise their great service through this donation.”
Marcus Mallon, an employee from Amazon in Dublin who nominated the charity, added: “I want to express my gratitude for the incredible work that Northern Ireland Hospice provides to patients and their families during some of the most challenging times. It is great to see Amazon showing support to a charity that focuses on the care of adults and children facing life-limiting illnesses. It’s fantastic to know that Amazon is supporting a charity that means so much to me.”
Alan Kennedy from Northern Ireland Hospice added: “We’re very grateful to have received this donation from the Amazon team in Dublin. This will directly impact the lives of the people we support, enabling us to deliver specialist palliative care and support to babies, children and adults with life-threatening and life-limiting illnesses.”
The donation to Northern Ireland Hospice was made as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities in and around its operating locations in Ireland.
Since opening its doors in 2022, the Dublin fulfilment centre has supported many community organisations locally, with donations totalling €46,000. Charities supported by the team at the fulfilment centre include Cliona’s Foundation, Jigsaw and LauraLynn Children’s Hospice.
The Amazon fulfilment centre in Dublin, the first of its kind in Ireland, opened in August 2022 providing more than 500 new permanent jobs. The 630,000 square foot centre at Baldonnell Business Park in Dublin holds millions of items that are picked, packed and shipped to customers across Ireland and the rest of Europe.
