NSPCC Northern Ireland is calling on sports and activity groups across Northern Ireland to take part in this year’s Keeping Your Child Safe in Sport campaign.
The annual campaign, run by the charity’s Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU), raises awareness of safeguarding practices in sports and activities across the UK and aims to help clubs build strong relationships with parents and carers as well as children.
As part of this year’s campaign, we’re asking teams and clubs across Northern Ireland to bring their sporting community together by hosting a ‘Team Huddle’ where participants can play, chat, connect and learn how they can help keep children safe.
Whether hosting community fun days, fundraisers, or inviting NSPCC Northern Ireland to your club or activity to present a free hour-long, help keep children safe workshop, Huddles can also be fantastic ways to help build connections and communities.
Team Huddles can take place at any time in the lead up to our focus week in October (7 – 11). Free downloadable Huddle activity packs (downloadable from https://thecpsu.org.uk/safeinsport/ can be used as part of any event that parents and clubs may plan.
These packs will help open conversations about safeguarding and suitable supervision to ensure the welfare and protection of young athletes, making sport a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
