Christine Mackin, the founder of Radiance Beauty and Day Spa in south Belfast has been recognised for her contribution to the beauty industry at the 2024 NI Beauty Excellence Awards.
The salon on Upper Lisburn Road has been operating since 2002 and currently employs 24 staff, all of whom have been trained and mentored by Christine throughout their careers, with countless additional therapists learning under her expertise. The Spa also took home the Large Beauty Salon of the Year award on the night.
Judges were unanimous in their decision to award Christine the Outstanding Contribution Award, recognising how Christine has not only evolved and grown her own business over the years, but has given back to the industry, grown professionalism throughout the sector and brought innovative new treatments and facilities to Northern Ireland, all while giving back throughout her local community, providing safe spaces for local school pupils and providing a sanctuary for Bell’s Palsy survivors.
Katrina Doran, make-up and skincare specialist and head judge on the panel made up of various independent professionals in the beauty industry said; “Christine’s Radiance Beauty and Day Spa has picked up numerous NI Beauty Excellence Awards since we began in 2019, last year taking away three on the night. We have always been impressed by the way she conducts her business, the glowing testimonials shown from both her staff and clients, and how she gives back to the industry with her mentorship.”
The Awards took place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Belfast, where the great and the good of the industry gathered to celebrate their achievements, with 30 gongs given out on the night, including four new Awards for 2024 including Sustainable Business of the Year and Nurse-led Aesthetics Clinic.
Winners included Draperstown’s beauty success story, bBold Tan, which took home Beauty Business of the Year and Hair/Beauty/Aesthetics Retailer or Supplier of the Year, while Eden at South Lake, the health and wellbeing suites in Craigavon won the inaugural Sustainable Business of the Year trophy.
Anderson Aesthetics in Killyleagh won the first Nurse-led Aesthetics Clinic of the Year award, while MHR Belfast won the Hair Loss Specialist of the Year category. The Skin Health Clinic in Newry took home Specialist Salon or Clinic of the Year, while Belfast’s Beyond Skin Clinic won Skincare Salon / Clinic of the Year.

The judging panel was made up of new faces including Yolanda Cooper, Trichologist and CEO of The Conscious Beauty Group; Pamela Kennedy, founder of International Beauty Distribution & Training Academy and co-founder of the award-winning Tan Brush; and award-winning journalist and beauty editor Liz Dwyer and her sister Nikki Dwyer, who together run Future Beauty & Health, and co-host their aesthetics podcast, “Fess Up”. They joined head judge Katrina Doran who returned for a fourth year, and founder and CEO of Vita Liberata, Alyson Hogg MBE; nail expert and Renew Beauty, BioSculpture and Elim Educator, Ingrid Graham; Principal Dentist and owner of Martina Dental & Skin Clinic, Dr Martina Collins, all returning for their second year.
